How Much Is That Dog In The Window?

No owner wants their pet(s) to suffer because resources or medical care are out of reach.

What can you do? It takes $1300 a year to support a dog. And $900 a year for a cat. That's if nothing goes wonky.

Where do you go when the wonky occurs and your pocket resources are thin?

To start out, we recommend visiting Pet Help Finder. Pet Help Finder is a great tool to use to help you find financially friendly pet resources in your area such as Veterinary Care, Spay & Neuther Clinics, Vaccines, Pet Supplies, Pet Food Assistance, and so much more.

Vetting services can sometimes be on the high end. Here are .....

  • Negotiate a payment plan with your veterinarian. Some veterinarians will allow you to pay over time.

  • Ask if your veterinarian accepts Care Credit, a credit card specifically for health care expenses, including for pets.

  • Ask if your veterinarian accepts ScratchPay, a service similar to Care Credit.

  • Some veterinarians accept donations from clients for a fund held in reserve to help other clients in need of financial assistance. Ask if your veterinarian has such a fund.

West Mobile Vet comes to Newnan, Ga on Thursdays. No appointments necessary.

The H.E.L.P Spay & Neuter Clinic is located in Newnan, Ga and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, funded by donations and grants.

Funding Assistance:

There are many funding resources and platforms to consider, if in need for financial assistance. We highly reccomend the fundraising platforms, GoFundMe and Waggle.

Contacting a local rescue group or shelter is also something to consider. Sometimes they have funds set up to Neet-rinary medical care for families in their community. As well as, local veterinary colleges. Auburn Veterinary Clinic is AWESOME! (and it burns our tounges to say that, hints were big DAWG fans)

GoFundMe, enables you to create a personal fundrasing page for pet surgery and other veterinary care!

Waggle, is a pet-dedicated crowdfunding solution that channels funds directly to verified veterinariants for pet's care!

Pet Insurance:

Lastly, Pet Insurance is another option. Your other family members have medical insurance, even your car does. Why not your pet? Did you know that more than 4.8 million pets are covered by one of the following three pet insurance types, which can help reimburse veterinarian bills keeping your furry friend healthy and happy.

  • Comprehensive pet insurance provides the broadest coverage for your beloved pet and may be called accident and illness coverage. If your companion is injured or develops an illness, this insurance helps you shoulder the financial burden of nose-to-tail treatment.

  • Accident-only coverage excludes illnesses. Vet bills can add up quickly after an injury or accident. If your pet can’t get a comprehensive pet insurance plan due to age or health or if you need more affordable pet insurance, an accident-only policy may be a good fit.

  • Wellness and preventive care coverage is typically sold as an add-on product (or “rider”) to one of the two insurance types above. It’s not exactly an insurance product, but a plan that reimburses you at a flat rate for routine checkups and preventive care.
